Maine Lake Charts - Ice Out 2006


With all the warm weather we had this winter ice out in 2006 is happening fast throughout Maine. Many lakes are going ice free 2-3 weeks early. It is a wonderful time of year and while we are out there with frozen fingers looking for that first open water fish of the season, keep in mind that the water is still very cold. An early swim is not something that would be very enjoyable and it may be life threatening. Wear your life jacket and watch out for those strong winds and sudden storms that can sweep in. Soon the black flies and mosquitos will be here so lets enjoy it while we can.
