Ice out 2007 is definitely back on track. The warm sun and afternoon breezes have helped to break up ice that just wouldn't seem to go away. As expected, lakes throughout central Maine opened up quickly this past week. Downeast and northern Maine lakes will be next. We encourage you to contact us when the ice goes out in your area. We will do our best to post them as soon as possible.
Keep in mind that by studying one of our charts, you can plan that first trip out. With the high fuel prices, you can save gas too by eliminating unproductive areas of a lake in advance. Soon the black flies and mosquitos will be here so lets sit back, relax, and watch as spring slowly comes to New England.
